“Never in a million years did I expect anything like this to happen.” Reneta M. owns several rental properties in the South Shore area.  “I try to be so careful and selective when it comes to picking tenants. But you never know about people.”

One of Reneta’s apartments was the scene of a grisly homicide. “It was a domestic situation, from what I understand,” she said. “The husband was there, and then he wasn’t, and then he came back – and he didn’t like what he found.” The result was so gruesome and horrific that police advised that she stay out of the building. “They said seeing things – even after they took that poor girl’s body out – was going to be too traumatic.”

“I couldn’t leave the apartment like that, of course,” Reneta said. “And I couldn’t deal with this myself. So I called a South Shore Biohazard Cleaning service.”

Biohazard cleaning services specialize in cleaning up property after crimes, homicides, suicides, or any horrible event that results in a lot of blood. Removing blood from walls, carpeting, and furnishings is essential to maintain the safety and integrity of your property, and to keep the building safe for other tenants.  Biohazard cleaning services are also called upon when a property has been damaged by animals and animal feces; some services also help restore properties after they’ve been used as meth labs.

“I was worried about the people who had to deal with this mess,” Reneta said. “I didn’t want them to get ill. But they assured me that they’ve been specially trained and take precautions to protect themselves against any contamination. They know how to keep themselves safe and make my property safe again.”

Restoring the apartment took two days. “Afterward, if you walked in there, you would never knew anything happened. I knew of course,” Reneta said, “but if you didn’t know, you’d never guess.”  She still doesn’t like to enter that apartment, but her discomfort has eased with the passage of time. “The man who lives there now is an 85 year old sweetheart,” Reneta said. “I don’t have to worry about any excitement with him!”
